Dating back to the 1950/60’s, this superb vintage Aït Ouaouzguit carpet originates more precisely with the Aït Tamassine, a berber tribe living in eastern Jbel Siroua, close to Anzel. It is one of the finest moroccan tribal carpets, with fine and silky yarns knotted densely, using natural, vegetable and artificial colours. Warps are laid to create stripes of alternating colours, visible on the back and selvedges, which is typical of this tribe’s practices. And all of the design themes are from berber tradition, purely geometrical, with noticeably a crenelated fine border. Dimensions: ca 210 x 115 cm / 84″ x 46″.
