This so called “Azilal carpet” actually originates with the Aït Bou Guemmez or Aït Bou Ouli berber tribes, settled in high valleys of the central High Atlas, south of Azilal. The dominant color of such carpets is the white, animated with a number of design often chosen from the natural environment, as is here.
Most wools in this carpet are undyed, using white for the background, black, grey and brown for the motives. The carpet is knotted over cotton wefts. Period: ca 1970/80 – Dimensions : ca 320 x 150 cm / 136″ x 60″ – Ref O1124
