This is a vintage Aït Bou Guemmez or Aït Bou Ouli carpet; but very unusual. Those tribes commonly produce white carpets with dark designs; this carpet is a kind of a negative of others with the inversionof traditionnal colors. It displays a usual losengical grid, with a number of horizontal rupture lines as is common in the neighbouring Middle Atlas. This sober composition is however distracted by two lines of colored small squares alternating yellow and green. This carpet is entirely made of handspun wool but for those colored squares which are made of “souk wool” (industrial spinning). Dimensions: ca 285 x 155 cm / 114′ x 62′.
