This carpet belongs to the east end of the vast plain ranging from the Atlantic ocean to the Middle Atlas, with the Hauz of Marrakech on its western side. A late piece, it still is one of those carpets streaming from the ancient practices of arabic tribes who came there between the 11th and 14th century; as in many carpets from this area, a number of decorative elements is made of a multicolored checkerboard.
