This is a very unusal berber carpet originating in the Demnat area, in the central High Atlas. It displays strong vivid colors, much appreciated by local populations, mixed with some natural colors. Structure and motives are a mix of Middle Atlas and Haouz of Marrakech practices, not that geographically remote. The losange figure , a very ancient design element, is widely used, as in many berber carpets. This rug is entirely made of wool, using the symetric knot. Dimensions: ca 285 x 140 cm / 9’6″ x 4’8″.
