Here is a plain red carpet woven in the Mrirt region, south-west of Fes in the moroccan Middle Atlas. Fairly recent, it can be both a trade and a domestic carpet, being a common practice in this area. Color and wool bring confort to local interiors as to ours. Woven using the symetric knot, the field shows an abrashed red color, the result of a hand dying on skeins of hand spun wools. As for all tribal/domestic carpets, there are braids only at one end of the carpet, the finishing end. Period: recent – Dimensions: ca 285 x 200cm / 114″ x 80″.
