This long weaving is a hanbel from the Sektana people, living in north eastern Anti-Atlas, neighbours to the Zenaga tribe. Very limited, hence rare, their production of rugs and hanbel is always very colorful. This hanbel, a flatweave, is built with a series of wide stripes showing alternating vivid and natural (brown and white) colors, over which, at uneven intervals, are laid down bands of geometrical or figurative motives. Warps and knots are of handspun wool, wefts being of cotton. Originally meant for the floor, its graphics deserve a vertical/mural exhibition whenever possible.. Dimensions: ca 410 x 135 cm / 13’8″ x 4’6″
