Sektana hanbel/carpet – Ref D1103

sektana hanbel

This rug comes from the Sektana people, a berber settled in the north-eastern part of the Anti Atlas, in south western Morocco. Diverse and numerous vivid colors are typical of that area, as is the elongated format. The succession of uneven stripes is of ancient tradition, as in all Morocco, and includes losangic and square elements, as well a a figurative one, a red car. Quite uncommon, this rug is not very old, dating back to 1970/80. Its elongated shape is meant to match the local architecture where the reception room are long and narrow. Dimensions : ca 390 x 160 cm / 13′ x 5’4″.
