This hanbel originates above the Ourika valley, south of Marrakech, in western Hign Atlas. It is woven using wools of natural colors, but for those dyed red. It originally is a fabric woven to be folded then stitched on the sides in order to have it as a grain bag. This practice has stopped with the upcoming of more easily available industrial bags.
